Were fitted with 5 decal colour schemes

1) Plum/ Purple/ Dark Blue
Fitted to Cotillion White, Mint Julep, Jade Green Metallic, Deauville Blue Metallic (A very common colour set and one which the Sandman is identified with. Featured in the HX advertising material)

2) Orange/ Brown/ Dark Brown
Fitted to Absynth Yellow, Persian Sand, Contessa Gold Metallic (A rare colour set due to the unpopularity of Brown coloured Sandmans. This may have lead Sandmans with brown to be resprayed in alternate colours or not restored).

3) Orange/ Bright Blue/ Blue
Fitted to Absynth Yellow (far more commonly than colour scheme 2) (The most common colour scheme fitted to yellow HX and HZ's. Because it was carried over in HZ's after having been used in HX's this colour scheme is often strongly associated with the Sandman)

4) Yellow/ Orange/ Red
Fitted to Mandarin Red and Papaya. (The second most common colour scheme fitted to HX and HZ Sandmans, carried over into HZ's also. However, HZ's were less popular in red colours than the HX had been)

5) Bright Yellow, Light Orange, Orange
Fitted to Mandarin Red (less commonly than colour scheme 4) Aquarius, and rarely Deauville Metallic Blue. (Quite a rare colour scheme. Nonetheless featured in an advertisement for the HX utility)
