SSandman Owners Club

Official Club Site of Australia

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

It has been some time since we have contacted our members and updated our site. There have been some major changes in the operation of the club. Dave ‘Macca’ McKibbon stepped aside from running the club to travel overseas leaving us in a major state of disarray! Consequently, Daniel and I have decided to restructure and streamline the operation of the club and this letter foreshadows and details the implementation of these changes.

1)        Increasing membership entitlements and restructuring the members area to better feature members vehicles. We have had many members and enthusiasts who have emailed us pictures, held lengthy discussions, and provided details of their vehicles. We think it would be great to have a photo album featuring these in the members section, ‘A collection of Sandmans’.

2)        Price for membership has been set at $15 and will entitle you to list your photos and a brief description of the restoration process (complete or incomplete) of your own vehicle as noted above. As a member you will also receive a club sticker that is currently being produced and be able to advertise your vehicle on the site. A membership section and newsletter from the authors of the club and site will be updated and featured on the website.

3)        An annual club run will now be scheduled once yearly down the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. It is planned to be held on the Labour Day long weekend. Given that the base of the club is established in Victoria and the long association of Sandmans with the coast we thought it a most appropriate location. Details of the run will be updated as we further approach Labour Day Weekend. At this stage we are planning to conduct the run on a Saturday afternoon driving from Geelong through Torquay down to Lorne and onto Apollo Bay where we will stay overnight. All are welcome to attend and we invite emails with suggestions beforehand.

4)        From now on we will only be promoting attendance of club members at All Holden Days. We have arrived at this position because there is huge number of events that can be attended and our representation has been scattered and random. We believe it to be in the best interests of the Club to be represented at All Holden Days with a number of vehicles. However, we accept that many owners will continue to attend varied events and we do not discourage this.

5)        Website changes are numerous and will include:

a)        More regular updates. At this stage they are planned for six monthly but may occur every 4 months.

b)        Changes to the members section allowing for the provision of photographs and a brief description of owners vehicles and histories.

c)       More comprehensive identification information. We have asked Byron Rich who has worked very hard in this area for the use of his identification information on our site.

d)        Revision of the parts section. We have improved the trading page as we now have to accept that most members are using other methods including eBay as a more common way of buying and selling parts.

e)        Updates to the HQ, HJ, HX and HZ Sandman Model Information sections including increase access to pictures.

f)          Updates to Sandman Decals pages and information pairing vehicle colour schemes with decal colour combinations.

We are excited by the changes to the Sandman Owners Club and hope you feel equally positive about them. Please feel free to contact us if you have any queries or suggestions. The next month or two will be an interesting time for us as we move forward to further consolidate the club and its operation.

Membership forms will also be available online soon.
